A+C go to California: Disneyland

Friday, February 28, 2014

Remember this post when I said Connor was kidnapping me for Valentine's Day and remember this post when I revealed that we ended up going to Disneyland?

Well I finally got some pictures to show you folks from our amazing, wonderful, awesome, sweeeeet road trip to California!!! This first installment consists pictures from day 1 of Disneyland. I didn't take as many pictures on the first day because I was so distracted by all the magic to remember to take pictures, but don't worry! Day 2 totally will make up for it.

Anyway, hope you enjoy these moments that I did end up capturing with my handy dandy iPhone!

I could hardly contain my excitement that moment we stepped through those gates!! Also, notice the photographer man in the background totally jacking my pose.

Disneyland Castle!!! Is it just me or does it look smaller in person?

Can you tell how excited Connor was to pay $8 for a slice of pizza? ;)
Mousetize me, cap'n.
Love this guy :)
Since I'm sorta, kinda, really obsessed with cotton candy, it was necessary to purchase some.
This bubble took a liking to Connor.....
Ferris wheel of magic.
You guys didn't know I had my own ride? ;)
Saved the best for last.

You're welcome.

More installments in the days to come!
The next set of pictures may or may not involve some Minions.
You'll just have to check back and see! ;)

Have a great weekend everyone!

Cheers.

Sweater: c/o Skip N' Whistle
Leggings: c/o SWELL
Booties: Thrifted! [similar]
Purse: Coach

So, I'm kind of obsessed with this sweater I got from Skip N' Whistle.
I mean,
there are cats dressed up as Indians on it.
How can you not love it??

Skip N' Whistle is an online retailer based in New Orleans that sells a wide range of clothing and merchandise at great prices. The thing I love most about their shop are the fun designs that are screen printed onto their shirts and sweaters! Seriously they are so unique and awesome--Example A: my Indian Cats Sweater.

Dress: c/o Choies
Necklace: Wet Seal [similar]
Booties: Forever 21 [similar]

So all my life I've had this one dream that I've always wanted to come true.

And last night,
it came true.

It was everything I wished it would be.
It was everything I hoped it would be.

Even better?
I captured my dream on camera.

So here it is guys.
You're about to see a lifelong goal accomplished...

ShaBAM.

Yes.
That is me, grocery shopping on a motorized shopping cart.
I can now die a happy woman.

:)

Hahaha.
Okay, for real though, on a "serious" note...

Aren't you always jealous whenever you see people riding these babies through the store?
Cus I am.

We went to Smith's last night to pick up some last minute groceries and as I was crutching myself along, I found my eyes fixated on this sweet scootermobile--I finally had a legit reason to use one of these! I shyly asked Connor to ask an attendant if it was okay if I used one (yes, I get Connor to talk to strangers for me) and before I knew it, I was rollin' along in my own set of wheels (like a G).

It was an amazing experience, folks.
It really was.

Oh, and please ignore my "feminine necessity product" shamelessly chilling in my cart.

Cheers.

The One where Ariel watches Friends all day

Tuesday, February 25, 2014

Scarf: c/o StyleGirl
Flannel: PacSun
Jeans: Bullhead
Booties: Forever 21 [similar]
Sunglasses: borrowed from Jessica!

If my life were a Friends episode, this post title would be its title.
Ever since Saturday morning, I've been hanging out with Rachel, Monica, Phoebe, Ross, Chandler, and Joey all day, every day.
They have literally become my "friends."
Yes, characters from a 1994 TV show have become my friends. #foreveralone

TV shows like this that have a billion seasons are perfect for watching when you're sick or recovering because the time it takes to watch the entire series, is usually the time it takes to get all better! :)
It's also fun to watch episode after episode without having to wait 7 days in between each one!
I've thanked her a million times already, but THANK YOU Jessica for lending me your DVDs and also bringing me Chic-Fil-A today. Love you girl!

Is it just me or does Jennifer Aniston NEVER age???
I swear she looks the exact same today as she did in 1994.

Also, I wish I were as witty as Chandler.
and as free-spirited as Phoebe.
and as pretty as Rachel.

Who is your favorite Friends character?

Smelly cat, smelly cat, what are they feeding you?

Cheers.

Anesthesia makes you have word vomit.

Skirt: c/o Choies
Hair Garland: c/o Choies
Shirt: H&M
Booties: Forever 21 [similar]

Hello, hello!
First off, this fun, "wanderlust" outfit is the first of multiple outfits I took pictures of pre-surgery so I would still have things to post for you guys post-surgery! Just wanted to let you guys know so you wouldn't be like "wait, didn't she just get surgery? Where is her brace? How is she standing without crutches? What a LIAR!!"

Second, thank you to everyone who sent me good vibes and wished me well for my knee surgery!
Everything went smoothly and I am currently recovering on our couch with a huge log on my left leg. I hobble around on my crutches from time to time and Connor keeps me nicely medicated so I don't feel too much of the throbbing, but other than that I've been keeping busy watching the entire series of Friends on DVD (big thanks to my girl, Jessica)!

Remember in my last post when I said my ACL was extremely stretched out? Yeah, well we found out after the surgery that my ACL was actually TORN and it reattached to my PCL over the years. Crazy!

Best part of my surgery?
Having it over with.
It's really true what they say about how the build up is the worst part. Now that all the anxiety is gone about how the surgery would go, I can focus on recovering!

Worst part of my surgery?
Sticking that dang IV into my hand because I hate needles. It's so much different than a shot too because with shots, the needle is in then out in like, three seconds. With an IV, they jab that dang tube in, then leave it there. Bleh. Also, when the morphine began entering my body right before the surgery, I was not a happy camper. Thank goodness I started getting woozy and knocked out shortly after that because I don't know how much longer I could have handled that pain. I'm a huge baby.

Most interesting part of my surgery?
The half an hour after I woke up from surgery when I was "Ariel after the Dentist."
Gosh, there is something about waking up from anesthesia that makes you blurt out everything and I mean everything that comes to mind--"word vomit" as Lindsay Lohan from Mean Girls, would say. It's so weird because I remember every single word I said during that time, but I had NO clue why I was saying any of it!
Here is Connor's top 5 favorite word vomit moments:

1) Me: "Did they cut off my leg? Oh my gosh, where is my leg? They cut it off!!!"
2) Me: "I'm so proud of myself! I did so good in there!"
3) Connor: (while feeding me) "Do you want me to peel the string cheese or do you just want to bite into it?"
Me: "Peel it. Come on, I don't want to just bite into it like Ryan from The Office."
4) Nurse: "Are you okay with taking pills?" (referring to the painkillers she was prescribing me)
Me: "Pshh, yeah. I take pills like a boss. I love pills. (pause) Oh, I mean the good kind of pills, though!"
5) This one is the only one I don't remember, but apparently right after I "woke up," the nurse asked me if there was anyone who came with me for the surgery. I replied, "Yeah, my friend is waiting for me in the waiting room." My "friend" being Connor. So the nurses thought Connor was just "my friend" for a while until he clarified that he was actually my husband. But hey! Technically Connor is my "friend" right? Your husband should always be your best friend first. :)

I kind of wished Connor recorded me so I could watch my ridiculous self later, but he said he felt bad doing that because I was so "vulnerable" at that moment and he didn't want people to make fun of me later.
Awwwww.

Anyway, I promise I'll start shutting up about my surgery sooner or later.
For now it's the only interesting thing that is happening in my life so why not share it with you all right? :)

I don't want to post any of the nasty hospital pictures I have of myself, so instead here is an at-home-post-surgery shot for you all!
Cheeeeeeese.

Again, thanks for all the nice words and support!
You guys are the best. :)

Cheers.

LOR Jewelry + I'm getting knee surgery today

Friday, February 21, 2014

Bracelet: c/o Left of Right Jewelry
Jacket: LA Hearts
Pants: Bullhead [similar]
Booties: Forever 21 [similar]
Necklace: Wet Seal [similar]

It's Friiiiiday, Friiiiiday.
Partyin', partyin', YEAHHH!
Just kidding.
No partyin' for me this weekend.
More on that later.

First I want to talk about this sweet Etsy shop I am swooning over! Left of Right Jewelry is an online jewelry retailer based in Orange County, California. I absolutely love the unique variety of jewelry they offer--they all reflect an urban-gypsy vibe that I am totally digging right now! I mean seriously, how cool is my Hex Nut Bracelet? It definitely adds a little edge to any outfit I wear it with.

Now on to the second part of my post title.
Yes, I am getting knee surgery. TODAY.

I injured my knee about three years ago while I was playing basketball with some friends (say whaaaat? Ariel plays sports?). As I was landing from a jump, my knee twisted and the next thing I knew I was rolling on the ground in pain. I could still move it so I knew I didn't break anything, so I just iced it as soon as I got home. When the swelling went away, so did my worries of a major injury. But as time went by, I kept re-injuring my knee. One time it was playing basketball (again), one time it was playing tennis, and one time it was jumping on the bed (I'm an idiot, I know). I'm a stubborn girl so I kept brushing off the injuries, figuring I was just having some bad luck.

It wasn't until I went snowboarding a few weeks ago when I noticed how weak my knee actually was. Not only did it feel strange whenever I twisted it, but I could literally feel my knee shaking uncontrollably whenever I put weight on it going down the mountain. It freaked me out a ton. I didn't realize how bad/weak it had gotten over the years since that initial injury.

My husband finally convinced me to schedule an appointment with the doctor and during the visit, it was confirmed: my ACL was extremely stretched out.

I had two options: either use a knee brace during anything physical for the rest of my life or get surgery. Of course, going under the knife didn't sound like the prettiest option, but I didn't want to have to wear a bulky, annoying brace every time I wanted to play a quick game of ball. Also, the more I thought about it, I realized it was better to get this problem fixed while I am still young--so I can easily chase my future little roadrunners everywhere without collapsing. So surgery it was.

I'm probably making a huger deal out of this than I need to (gosh, you're so dramatic Ariel), but it's my first time going under the knife (getting knocked out and all) so I'm actually really nervous. If you have any good vibes to spare, please send them my way! Any and all support is appreciated. :)

Also, I just wanted to keep you all in the loop just in case I fall behind on posts. I've been trying my hardest to cram in as many outfit/blog posts as I can into my queue before I'm "out of order" but if I go MIA for a bit, you guys will know why.

Okay well, wish me luck!
I adore you all.

Cheers.
